The Xtractor is a bit different in department of fishing tackle due to the fact that the captain owns Handler Custom Fishing Rods. Adrian designed these rods with the best components that money can buy, so that we could provide the best fishing experience we could. We are meticulous about having high quality hooks, rigs, and line. Your tackle is the link between you and the fish. Everything has to be perfect. We know how it is to show up for that charter you have been looking for and the fishing rods are a bunch of broken junk poles with old line. That will not happen on the Xtractor.
Here is a list of the set ups we have on the boat:
50lb class Tuna stand up rods
Designed for fighting tuna from a gimbal belt. These rods are short to give you much needed leverage against these hard fighting fish. They are outfitted with Shimano Tiagra 50w 2 speed reels and loaded with 60lb test Triplefish line.
30 pound class Dolphin/Wahoo rods

20lb class spinning rods
The rods were designed for casting long distances such as when required for throwing lures at skittish tuna, or free swimming cobia. They are outfitted with stradic 8000's and Baitrunner 6500's and spooled with Triplefish and Jerry Brown Braided line.
100lb class bottom rods
These are designed to have a lot of power while not being a “broomstick” that is needed for turning big grouper, snapper and amberjack away from the nasty rock ledges they live near. They are outfitted with Newell 631-3 reels and load with 100lb Jerry Brown Braided Line.
